Our Projects

Natural State Carbon is developing biochar production facilities designed around regional biomass resources, existing infrastructure, and practical end markets. Our projects range from larger regional production facilities to smaller, integrated operations developed alongside biomass suppliers and end-use partners.

In Development

Regional Biochar Facility

Natural State Carbon is advancing a regional biochar production facility in South Arkansas, leveraging the area’s established timber and forest products industry.

The project is being designed to convert underutilized sawmill residuals and other suitable woody biomass into biochar for industrial, environmental, and land-based applications. The facility is intended to support durable carbon removal while creating productive outlets for regional biomass resources.

Our development approach emphasizes reliable feedstock supply, efficient operations, access to existing infrastructure, and practical markets for the resulting biochar.

Primary biomass: Sawmill residuals and forestry byproducts

Potential applications: Landfill operations, construction materials, land management, and durable carbon removal

In Development

Integrated Biochar Deployment

Natural State Carbon is pursuing smaller-scale biochar production opportunities that integrate directly with existing biomass collection, processing, or end-use operations.

In Northwest Arkansas, we are evaluating opportunities to utilize municipal woody waste, tree trimmings, and other underutilized biomass streams. By locating production near the source of biomass or a potential biochar user, these facilities can reduce transportation requirements and take advantage of existing infrastructure.

This approach provides a flexible model for developing commercially viable biochar operations while addressing regional waste management needs and creating useful carbon-rich materials.

Primary biomass: Municipal woody waste and other suitable regional biomass

Potential applications: Landfill and environmental applications, soil products, and durable carbon removal

Development Partnerships

Natural State Carbon works with biomass suppliers, municipalities, landfill operators, industrial partners, and prospective biochar customers to identify and develop commercially viable projects.

We welcome opportunities involving available biomass resources, potential facility locations, and practical applications for biochar.
